What exactly is HCG and how does it work?

HCG is short for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin – it is naturally produced in the body and is sometimes known as the “pregnancy” hormone, because the levels increase dramatically during pregnancy. HCG programs the body to mobilize fat and use it as energy. Weight loss programs capitalize on this same process to mobilize and utilize our stored fat.

Is HCG safe?

HCG has been shown to be safe. It is a naturally produced hormone with little to no side effects. At this time, very few studies have been completed to verify weight loss results; however, our personal experiences with patients have consistently shown to be safe and very successful.

Will my metabolism slow down on such a low calorie diet?

The low calorie diet, done in conjunction with the HCG hormone, signals the body to use stored fat for energy, and eliminate excess fat reserves, therefore, no. Your metabolism will not slow down and it is actually thought to “reset” your metabolic rate.

Wouldn’t I lose the same amount of weight eating a very low calorie diet without HCG?

Yes… you can lose weight by simply eating fewer calories although the body stores fat during times of deprivation as a survival mechanism. Thus your weight loss on just a reduced calorie diet is more likely to be muscle rather than fat. By combining HCG with the low calorie diet, a higher amount of fat is mobilized for energy and eliminated.

Won’t I be hungry all the time consuming so few calories?

Because HCG helps to mobilize fat and makes it available to the body as an energy source, it has also been shown to reduce appetite. Thus your body is signaled to consume the fat reserves in order to maintain energy.

How much weight can I expect to lose on the program?

On average, our patients lose around 20 lbs. or more per month. It is not uncommon for us to see people losing a pound a day following the complete HCG diet protocol.

How can I be sure I am getting the proper nutrition on so few calories?

We encourage the taking of supplements while taking HCG, this not only ensures you are receiving proper nutrition but also helps increase your overall success.

Isn’t there a link between HCG and cancer?

This is a rumor that has been around for years and has no scientific evidence or support. Although HCG has gotten a lot of press lately, it has been around for decades with very few if any reports of adverse side effects. In fact, The Fox Chase Cancer Center recently published an article how HCG protects against breast cancer.

What methods of administration are available for HCG?

We currently offer the HCG preparation in the form of a cream or gel, as an injection, and as a lozenge-type troche which is placed under the tongue for administration. The choice of which method you choose is an individual one, depending on ease of usage.
